On April 26th, 2026, JET alum Sarah Coomber (’94-’96, Yamaguchi) shared her experience of trading out a wrecked Minnesota life for two years in an isolated area of rural Japan. As she writes in her memoir, The Same Moon: A Young Woman’s Season of Entanglements in Rural Japan, "expectations often collide with reality, but challenges have a way of opening up opportunities."
Our event also featured A panel of alumni—from the 1980s to the present—which added to the conversation, exploring their favorite experiences and lessons learned on the JET Program.
