Sakura Sunday Volunteers Needed

JASO and JETAA Portland need your help!

Sakura Sunday is almost here. Join JASO, JETAA Portland and many other groups to celebrate the Cherry Blossom Centennial. It’s been 100 years since Japan gave 3000 cherry trees to Washington, D.C. Events are happening all over the US to commemorate this most auspicious event.

Sakura Sunday will be held April 1, from 12-3 p.m. at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

There are 3 opportunities for you to help out!

1. JASO needs volunteers to help out from 10-4 p.m. Even if you can’t be there the whole time, you can take a shift.

2. JASO needs help in distributing posters to local businesses prior to the event.

3. JETAA Portland will be hosting a booth from 12-3 p.m. and would love to have your help promoting the JET program and Japan. Feel free to wear your yukata and bring JET memorabilia.

To volunteer with JASO, contact Erik Harebo:

To volunteer at the JETAA booth, contact Veronica Adversalo:

Please consider donating a little of your time to help out a great event!

The Portland Chapter of JETAA (The JET Program Alumni Association) was created to serve the bonds of friendship developed by the program participants. JETAA’s purpose is to achieve, through its activities, a broader and deeper understanding between Japan and the other countries participating in the program.
