“Revenge of the 47 Loyal Samurai” Kabuki Play – Feb. 25th – March 5th

Do you love kabuki, or have you always wanted to see a kabuki play but never had the chance? You’re in luck, because a live English-language kabuki performance will soon be taking place right here in Portland!

Students of Portland State University will perform the first-ever production of Chūshingura, or The Revenge of the 47 Loyal Samurai, by a university in the continental United States. One of the most-loved and frequently performed kabuki plays in Japan, The Revenge of the 47 Loyal Samurai‘s characters and story demonstrate all that is considered virtuous and noble in traditional Japanese society.

Where: Portland State University’s Lincoln Performance Hall

When: February 25 – March 5

Show Times: 

7:30 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday

2 p.m. on Sunday
